Government Contracts Law

Private companies bidding for contracts with local, state, or federal governments have to meet specific requirements that include compliance with numerous laws and regulations.   • Currently representing electrical subcontractor on its pass-through claims of owner delay and interference on a $150 million U.S. Navy construction project.
  • Obtained a favorable $1.2 million termination for convenience recovery for contractor after DCAA review on a U.S. Corps of Engineers construction project in Afghanistan within 8 months after presentation of termination proposal.
  • Secured favorable settlement of $6 million contractor claim against U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Obtained a favorable resolution for a government contractor facing debarment by U.S. Army, permitting the contractor to stay in business.
  • Obtained a dismissal with prejudice by the Court of Federal Claims of a $1.8 million claim by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers against a foreign contractor.
  • Negotiated favorable settlement of multiple contractors claims against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for projects in Afghanistan.
  • Secured a succesful bid protest win for contractor in Veterans Affairs procurement challenging award.
  • Represented a contractor after the U.S. Government terminated its contract for convenience and offered the contractor a “no-cost” termination. The Government settled the dispute by paying a mid six-figure amount to the contractor for its termination costs.
  • Represented Finnish company in contract negotiations with the United States Navy.
  • Successfully prevented disclosure of construction contractor client’s proposal and financial information in response to a Freedom of Information Act request on a $150 million U.S. Army project.
  • Represented multiple government contractors in connection with internal and external audits.
  • Obtained a ruling on the merits in bid protest before the Court of Federal Claims that the agency’s disqualification of client’s proposal for a $99 million NASA contract was arbitrary and capricious.
  • Secured a favorable bid protest result for contractor who had been disqualified from a bid with Trinity Metro of Fort Worth Texas.

Dirik Law PC represents owners, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers involving disputes or claims that arise during construction of a project, either by negotiation, mediation, arbitration or litigation and we help in the drafting of contracts and subcontracts, as well as in the negotiation of the terms of contracts and subcontracts. Our clients deal with contract documents containing risk shifting provisions, provisions regarding payment for the work and for changes and extra work, unforeseen and unanticipated conditions, notice requirements, scheduling and delays, waivers of lien and other rights, liquidated damages, insurance requirements, indemnity, and disputes resolution, among many others. Unfortunately, disputes often arise from these contracts and their performance.
